The 2008 presidential election is one of the most crucial political competitions of the 21st century. American voters, deeply disappointed and angered by the current administration, are ready for a change. Republicans, however, aren’t happy with John McCain as their candidate and Democrats are about evenly divided in their loyalties to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Indeed, the caucus in Guam declared Senator Obama the victor by only seven votes.

Aside from the issues, voters are focusing more than ever on the character of the candidates, particularly the two Democratic hopefuls. Senator Obama has had to deal with his controversial pastor while Senator Clinton has been accused of embellishing her past experiences with falsehoods and exaggerations. Still, many are convinced that one of these two will be our next president since even Republicans are unhappy with their party’s actions and attitudes during the past two presidential terms.

It’s highly likely that the next president will be a Democrat and Senator Obama, despite his inexperience, seems to be the choice of the voters as well as the Super Delegates. His avoidance of the usual dirty games and muck-raking involved in political campaigns have many voters convinced that Senator Obama will ultimately be the peoples’ choice.
